For Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), Terri Poore, Policy Director with the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence (NAESV), presents an update on NAESV’s efforts at the national level to advocate for survivors.
Terri Poore is the Policy Director for the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence (NAESV) and RALIANCE where she specializes in finding policy solutions to the problem of sexual violence. She has decades of experience working in the anti-sexual violence movement including more than 15 years with the NAESV focused on federal and state policy and appropriations related to sexual assault. At the National Sexual Assault Resource Sharing Project, Terri spent several years providing technical assistance on the Sexual Assault Services Program, a federal formula grant. She worked at the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence for 13 years as the Director of Public Affairs and, before that, the Director of Training and Technical Assistance. In the 90s, Terri worked as a sexual violence counselor and program coordinator at a rape crisis center in North Florida and as a victim advocate in the Office of the State Attorney. Terri holds a master’s degree in social work from Florida State University and a BA in Sociology from Loyola University in New Orleans. She works from her home in Tallahassee, Florida.
